 he recently completed Dutchess County Courts project consists of the renovation of a group of buildings having landmark status, as well as the addition of a new family court facility. The landmark buildings include the Courthouse, the Courthouse Annex and Old City Hall. Each building was carefully fitted with new dual-fuel boilers, split-DX air conditioning systems, ductwork, piping and controls. In some cases, original cast iron radiators were refurbished for reuse, while other areas received new perimeter fin tube radiation. New equipment, piping and ducts were carefully hidden or concealed so as to preserve the original aesthetics of these buildings.
The new 60,000 SF Family Court building was constructed amongst the landmark buildings. This modern facility contains a law library, three hearing rooms and four courtrooms, with an entire floor is dedicated to the Probation Department. The facility includes state-of-the-art security, closed-circuit TV and telecommunication systems. The heart of the buildings' HVAC system includes a water source heat pump. The system proved cost effective due to its ability to save energy by storing daytime heat for nighttime use.
